Leave the EU in January 2020
Last updated 4 years ago
Conservative Party Manifesto 2019, p.5If we elect a majority of Conservative MPs to Parliament, we will start putting our deal through Parliament before Christmas and we will leave the European Union in January.
Our verdict
- This is a promise to remove the UK from membership of the European Union by the end of January 2020.
- After extensive negotiations, the UK formally left the EU at 11pm on 31 January 2020, entering into an 11-month transition period.
- The government has fulfilled this pledge, so this policy is ‘done’.
