Pass the Domestic Abuse Bill

Last updated 4 years ago

We will [...] pass the Domestic Abuse Bill.

Conservative Party Manifesto 2019, p.19

Our verdict

  • This is a pledge to make the previous government’s Domestic Abuse Bill into law, after it fell due to the calling of the general election.
  • The bill, which was reintroduced to Parliament on 3 March 2020, has been passed by the House of Commons and is currently proceeding through the House of Lords.
  • This policy will be ‘done’ if the bill receives Royal Assent and becomes law, but for now it is ‘in progress’.

There's always room for debate

We’re serious about providing clear, up-to-date, non-partisan information. We focus on being consistent and fair in how we reach our verdicts, and always explain our reasoning. But there is always room for debate. So if you see it differently, we’d love you to tell us why. Or even better, submit an edit.
