Raise the National Living Wage
Last updated 4 years ago
Conservative Party Manifesto 2019, p.7We’ve introduced and consistently raised the National Living Wage – and will raise it still further.
Our verdict
- This is a commitment to increase the National Living Wage for workers aged over 25.
- When this government took office, the National Living Wage was £8.21. On 1 April 2020, the National Living Wage was raised by 6.2% to £8.72.
- The April 2020 increase means the National Living Wage rate has “reached the target of 60 per cent of median earnings, originally set in 2015”. This policy is ‘done’.
