Support the Northern Ireland Executive to improve infrastructure, enterprise and tourism

Last updated 4 years ago

After Brexit, we will support the Northern Ireland Executive to improve infrastructure, enterprise and tourism...

Conservative Party Manifesto 2019, p.44

Our verdict

  • This is a promise to support efforts by the Northern Ireland Executive to bolster its economy following the Brexit transition period.
  • Northern Ireland has been central to arguments over the government’s controversial Internal Market Bill, and the Executive itself is divided over whether the bill helps or hinders the possibility of peaceful progress post-Brexit.
  • With the Internal Market Bill being hurried through Parliament ahead of the end of the transition period on 31December 2020, this policy is ‘in progress’.
